🧭 The Compass — 8 Directions & Turning Rules
Every direction-sense problem lives on an invisible compass. There are 4 cardinal directions (N, S, E, W) and 4 inter-cardinal directions (NE, NW, SE, SW). The cardinal directions are the ones tested 90% of the time in SSC and UPSC exams — so memorise their clockwise order: North → East → South → West → North.

A person faces North and turns right (clockwise). He is now facing: (Clockwise from North = East).
